Year of DXing 2010

January 2010

So the year changed. I spent my New Year in Prague, OK-land visiting friends and just relaxing like a turist...

Got a nice hotelroom in Residence Trinidad , just over the Manesuv Bridge from the city center. So not very far from all the fuzz... First room was on 2nd floor (did have antennas there also) but it was no good for making contacts so, changed room into the top floor and so I could put my antennas out better and start making qsos... We had a nice view of the Castle from the hotelroom. After a few days there, OK1DIX Ladislav called me and said he had arranged a meeting with Mila OK1VUM and we would go and visit OK1KZE/OL3Z contest/club station. They have a nice place up on the hill some 35km south of Prague. Mainly concentrated on VHF/UHF/SHF but had some nice HF setup too, 2x5el 15m, 5el 20m, 3el 40m, slopers for 80m and 160m. Beverages around and to the best directions. Towerbases are old missilebunkers. Big thanks to OK1DIX, OK1VUM and greetings to rest of OL3Z gang, nice setup!!!

Well did make some qsos...QSL is in progress, front and back needs a little more job. OK/OH1MN QSL will be sent via Bureau. Directs will be answered fast after QSLs printed.

Happy New Year 2010 once more and may we all get more DXs and those missing ones this year!!!

Been off the radio for a while, but today did some QRM hunting in my surroundings, ofcourse in the city there are plenty of sources... Need to get some time to go and check some sources at OH1SDR Jannes QTH, so he would have more enjoyable time on the bands with less QRM.

OK/OH1MN QSL design is almost done, backside needs some small details still.

The QSL seems done now... just to printer...

Some few qsos made for the joy of ending January and hopefully cold period here in OH... Yesterday (26th JAN) it was only -26°C during the night. Worked Khalifa A61KM on 40m psk and OZ3FYN on 6m JT6M. Maybe I will get some qsos before February comes...

Saturday 30th was down to OH1SDR Janne in hunt of the QRM....Found the originating house and he will go and talk with the owners if there is something that can be done about the QRM. We did also do some testing of the 4m xverter, made the box for it and had a couple of beer...

Nice ES picked up 31th January... Worked Gabi HA1YA on 6m cw with a nice report. Was pretty spotty conditions but still managed to work him.

February 2010

Started this month with working a few stations in the Northern Activity Contest on 144Mhz... Nothing special, longest QRB above 400km.

Checked latest episod of Amateurlogic.tv at the club (OH1AA). Got little inspiration to download WSPR and setting things working. First spot rxed was VK6POP on 40m, my signal was heard by DF1GU first. Decided to leave radios on for the night and see what happens.

Did some testing on 20m and 80m is just running now. As there is a special activation of 80m going on 6th and 7th FEB. Propagations do behave just like I remembered, will do some antenna testing to see wich antenna listens the best into what direction so I will know wich one to use for those DXes...

Finally Google Maps released their photage from OH-LAnd... Found my antennas on the site! (closeup). Wow, really nice! I can see my vertical for 10-20m, 2m and 6m beams and the 6m turnstile. Wow. Really nice. Ofcourse checked GoogleMaps earlier when traveling to places and look for different places etc, but now able to search for OH-Hams setup online... Nice.

Transverter for 4m almost done, Janne OH1SDR has done a huge job making the little devil. PA board and connections still needs to done, then time for first qsos on 4m band. Will be using it together with my Yaesu FT817, putting the minimun 500mW into the transverter.. Can already rx with it!

Janne OH1SDR made some mods to the transverter, but will get it back for tests on Thursday...

Worked many stations on BPSK31 during the weekend and this beginning of the week. Will try to make more contacts on BPSK. Tried on most bands... Just like them all...

Been trying to monitor on 4m but still no MS bursts here. Listened to local guys having their chat on 70.275Mhz.

Worked Thorvaldur TF4M on 20m SSB, he was really stong and had a nice pileup there. Also got LZ10ARDF, the Bulgarian ARDF Team... and for some sugar... Suhe JT1BZ on second band, now 15m BPSK31. Worked Suhe before on 20m. Also some JA´s and other asian dxcc coming in on 15m.

March 2010

March started with ARRL contest the first weekend... But for me was not a good weekend as I had bought tickets to this fantastic event at a waterpark... If someone is interrested check out Pacifique Luau. Was nice!!! although BBQ was quite impossible outside due some snow... Our BBQ grill. But got home in time on Sunday and worked a couple of log pages with K and VA stations on 20m... Managed to check out propagation on 15m and found ZY7C there.

Couple days at home trying to do some radio and looking for some dxs...Not many found, or should I say managed to work. Few of the nicest to mention were SP80UXB, VA2PW, CN8VO, 6W2SC (6W now on 3bands 10,15 and 20m), Big thanks to Alan ZL3JU for coming and returning to my call. And with a big signal from Massachusetts Bob W1URV and Tom KE9RY from Eagle, Wisconsin.

Propagations have been picking up and with SSN: around 25 and SF: 85. At this moment lots of nice qsos have been made. Starting from a week ago with some PY stations like PY2DN and PY5QW.

We tested a 20m ½ wave vertical at the Club, it was only a meter (~3feet) above the ground. Worked really up to expectations, first test qso was with Heikki HB9EDY and next some DX, YB4IR and first call to KH7XS in Hawaii...

From home QTH worked Ouessant island EU-065 iota trip by F6KOP team with their special call TM7CC.

Got also trough the big pileup that Orelvis CO6LC had on 20m SSB on the 18th. New one for me, so very happy about that qso. More new DXCCs and some other nice DXs have been popping up now and then, to mention a few like FM/KL7WA, Laurie A65BI, Massimo KH6ZM on the island of Hawaii. Big thanks to Massimo for making my Sunday evening worth!

After working some nice DX on 20m RTTY, decided to work a little more on this quite new mode for me, as I have totally worked maybe 10 qsos on RTTY mode... BARTG contest was luckily going on so I didn´t have any problems on finding stations to work with.

Decided together with my XYL to get some holiday abroad, ended up with 9H, Malta. Looking good, 2 weeks on the island (EU-023) with radios and antennas... Filling callsign application and hoping for a call like 9H3MN or prehaps 9H3MK if not -MN. I checked that 9H3MN has been in use in 2006, but maybe better to take a new callsign... QTH will be in the northern part of the main island, city of Mellieha. Will be in contact with M.A.R.L and 9H guys and maybe arrange a meeting or visit at the club. MARL office hours are quite good, Sundays 10:00 - 12:00 and Tuesdays & Thursdays 18:00 - 20:00. Been in contact with the Hotel owners and talked about getting the room on the top floor and access to the roof , to install antennas. Great job!!

CQ WPX SSB Contest 2010....Well didn´t do bad but worked plenty under 1k QSOs...Was a little picky with them, but again some new DXCCs. Also got into working 160m the second night. Big thanks to the guys and gals at J42T, ST2AR, HC8GR and many more... QSLs will be sent out to those wanting one.

Now back to some serious working... Decided to make a short trip to EU-096 and work something on the bands. Hope there will be plenty of DXers wishing to have a qso. Drove to Parainen island EU-096, used FT897, laptop and end fed wire with my tuner. Worked something around 60qsos first day on 40m.

See you next month!!!

April 2010

Someone might have worked me from EU-096 Parainen during the 1st day of April. QSL prefered direct. Did around 120 on digital modes.
After that a couple of weeks off the radio. Now worked R1FJM in russian with pyat´ devyat´ (59) reports.... Do svidaniya. Tnx for that.

Seems that April has been a busy month on other fronts then radio... Well did make some qsos with OH100S, special scout station operated by Allen OH1FJK. C37URA, Andorra, was also on the air, worked Martin.

Did some modifications on my 4m/6m beam, now just thinking about shall I install it here or later in summer/autum to the new QTH.

May 2010

April went fast... Didnt have that much radiotime... May started nicely, worked PU8TEP on 40m and some nearby qsos in 2m NAC.

Rxed qsls from ST2AR, HC8GR and CO6LC via direct... Always nice to come home from the office and find QSLs in the mail!

May is getting even better!! First SpE conditions are here, worked firsts 6m SpE qsos 7th May. First in log was G6TGO and second was last years number one, GW8ASD.
SpE continued the next day but after that gone for a while....

Good news, rxed email from Maltese authorities about my callsign, have been issued 9H3MK. Great! Now planing more...

Last few days have again showed where 6m band gets its Magic Band name from... One minute nothing on the band, next all europe is calling. So many new nice contacts on 6m. Few new squares and some strange condx also, just today worked 9A, IK5, UT, HA, OK, OM and then LY, SP8 and SP7, HA´s again, OK, SP´s... condx were strange but enjoyed them alot!

Been designing a new QSL for trips, as a general QSL to send if going around the world and making a few contacts here and there ... QSL printed in Gold Print Service. Will make one for 9H3MK callsign also.

In Kustavi island IOTA EU-096 this weekend, hoping for openings on 6m SpE... And got them!!! Huge signals starting with YO8ROO, then LZ, UR, OM, YU, HA, 9A, E7 and ending with 3 italians, I0WTD in JN61, tnx new #, I4EAT and IK0FTA Sergio.

After conditions gone on 6m qsyed to 20m... Pileup was garantied, gave EU-096 to those wanting it, condx was very spotty at times, qsb was strong, EU was hard on and one DX got through, congrats to VO1SA.

Direct QSL is prefered for all IOTA qsos so they will surely be answered and delivered. Not sure what I missed as was down to Turku for Turku Cruising 2010 happening, lots of old US made cars and people happy to them.

As conditions on 6m was not that good, worked some more 20m SSB, very sad that conditions there were not that good either, though worked VE1NG and lots of EU ja UA9...
Tried something on 10m also but worked only OE3DMA

6m Turnstile, 20m dipol and a long wire was all I needed. More to come when time allows.

Tomorrow back to work and so will miss all day SpE openings. Maybe some winterholiday time would be good for next week. Must talk to the boss....

No chance for holiday now, too busy at QRL, but always time for remote working from QRL. HIHI.

OMG what conditions on the magic band.... I think I worked all europe, around 200qsos last night (25th), worked stations from HB9, I, DL, S5, T7, F, EA, G, GW, 2E, EI, ON, OZ, PA.... Had to stop making qsos at 2300UTC as it was a working night, meaning work next morning at 0400UTC...

26th got my first SV and a new # with SV1CQN in KM08QO. Continued working the band and finished with IT9BOR and TM0B. Then all SpE gone. Saw some guys working TF but no cpi here. Did hear A92IO but no qso yet.

Weekend went fast in the radio again, from IOTA EU096 Kustavi island, some 6m qsos when conditions where there, listened also on 20m but didn´t work much... Was looking more into 6m qsos.

Got me some new dxcc´s on 6m.... SV9CVY and just on the last day of May, E4X Palestina 2010 dxpedition, with nice signal.

Starting to rx QSLs from IOTA EU-096, pse remember SAE and 1IRC/1$ or 1€... othervise return will be via bureau someday...

June 2010

June couldnt have started better, the usual 6m SpE was up and going fast... Lots of stations on the bands, MUF rised up but not enough for us to get on 2m. 6m was full of europe, OM, OK, DL, HA, ON, UR, SP, ER, YU, EI, G, 2E and S5 stations. Log is getting plenty of nice qsos. I so love the Magic Band!

June 2nd and at QRL watching ON4KST 6m Chat and Patrik 9A5CW says that he worked some OH on 2m. This info took me straight to the car and home QTH :). Came home and found antenna was in the right position to copy DG5CST Sebastian coming back to my first call from locator JO60DS. After the first 2m SpE qso, continued calling and calling, every time someone replies. Worked DL, S5, OE, OK, 9A, IW3, HA and SP stations, after one hour of qsos SpE was gone in my QTH. Back to work then :)

Best Boss ever!

3rd June was time for 10m Northern Activity Contest, FB qsos on 10m, both SSB and FM, brought to my mind the good old days when working on 11m/cb radio :). Well got a few qsos around Europe, SM, DL, OZ, PA, LA and a Russian station RV3EAK. Did some 6m qsos also. Nothing too big...

JT0YAB, a new one came 599 into my 3el yagi on the 5th, nice catch. Heard some JA´s but no luck yet for me to catch them.

Greetings from Parainen Island, IOTA EU-096, was QRV with my friend Janne, OH1SDR on HF, 6m and 2m... Worked myself some new ones, RU4CE... We were also QRV on 20m as I said, made a nice pileup there and will be back for those who didn´t have the chance to work us from EU096 Parainen Island. Our setup during EU-096 trip, 20m antenna is not in the picture but was only a halfwave vertical sloping wire. Pileup from Europe was BIG but managed to work some PY, JA and VE´s.... QSL via OH1MN for those who worked me and OH1SDR for those who got him...

The 7th June MUF rise up 144MHz and we had an opening south. Worked 8 new squares and one new DXCC on 2m. Opening lasted about 15-20minutes here. Longest QRBs was to YU1EV and YU2DX wich were almost 1800km.

Few cards rxed from EU096 activity and all those rxed have been returned already. So its fast service here! Also got news from my Printer that my new cards have been sent to me, so just waiting for the postman to bring them home.

Been watching some 6m DX, heard a few nice ones but no luck getting them... KP4EIT, AC4TO, A92GR and A92IO.

Packing bags... Excited to go to Malta... All cabels, checked. All antennas, checked. Rig, checked. Logbook, checked. Laptop, checked...Looking good.

Arrived in Malta island the 19th June, summer, hot, sunshine and +29°C, looking good, like a beach day.

Got my antennas up the 21st June and after switching the radio on, a few local qsos with 9H1SP on 2m and 6m... Then first real QSO on 6m to DK5EW. 6m was open.... Worked plenty of guys all over Europe.

First OH qso was with OH1FJK Allan on 20m, 1st OH and 1st 20m qso. Sent him a surprise via snailmail.... Plenty of QSOs on 6m days after also.
QRM at the Pergola Hotel was a steady S8-S9 and so SSB qsos were really hard. During the first couple of days my digitalmode adapter for the laptop was somehow broken during the flight in... Well one wire was gone, fixed it during the days and got things working. Was QRV on BPSK31, CW and SSB....2m-40m...

Tested other antennas solutions on the roof of the Hotel, but no success, still QRM. Have to live with it.

July 2010

Visited MARL HQ the 1st of July ===> Malta Amateur Radio League clubstation in Attard, during their clubevening, really worth the visit! Worked some pileups from there also. Got QSLs to other OH stations that had been on the Islands. Cheeriooou to Robin 9H1ZZ and Publius 9H5PC!! Tnx for the beer, Robin...

Still managed to work just under 500 qsos holiday style, most Europe, stateside, JA and Taiwan being the DX :)

Disassembled my antennas and other equipment and packed bags for home on the 2nd July. Arrived home in OH-LAnd the 3rd just to discover that luggage had been left behind somewhere, the flightcompany has no idea where the stuff is. So no use waiting, just go home and it will be delivered to you...

Big thanks to all those who managed to work we trough the QRM.

ALL QSLS via my homecall, OH1MN!!!

Ciao from I8/OH1MN.... Was invited to Vincenzos IZ0FKE and Valentinas wedding in Salerno...Only qsos made were on 2m :).
Friday 16th was in Rome with XYL and played turist. Later that evening moved down to Salerno and attended the wedding. Back to OH-Land on Monday night.

QSL cards for 9H3MK have been designed and are now in printing. Hope to rx them soon, so all of you who already sent cards can get a quick reply. A sneek preview of the front...

Been buzy with the new QTH... in KP10FO... Still have antennas also in KP10DK, though been quiet for some time, worked HA0DU on 6m and OH1K from Kaunissaari, translated Beautiful Island in EU140.

Well as I said, busy at the new QTH. Have been listening there also with radios and OOOOH do I love the silence, no more city QRM and there open to each direction!

August 2010

Any DX? Well some, but been mostly fixing new QTH... Still. Plenty to do there. I have there now a selection of wire antennas, for testing the bands. 20m and 6m dipols, around 41m long endfed wire and a deltaloop for 40m... Just checked the noise level in the City QTH, wich is about S5 or S6 and new QTH levels are at S0/S1 on 20m. Love it!!

Big contest going on this weekend, European HF Championships and 10-10 International Summer Contest.. Plenty of stations on each band.

Chasing meteors all night... Well seems something is flying, got DL/SP1JPQ and DK5EW on my screen. Looking forward on the 12th August as its predicted to be the maximum for Perseids shower between 2330UTC and 0200UTC.

Meteors flying... worked a few qsos on 2m, UR, PA, DL, SP and RA stations. Could have worked more but had to leave for a weekend trip...

Monday heard from my printer, Gold Print Service, that my 9H3MK QSLs have been shipped to me and should arrive soon.

And so they came, just 4 days after they had been posted to me. RXed my 9H3MK QSLs today... Some lucky guys at the Club already got their own direct. Now starting to write the direct qsls I have rxed. Will be sending them out next week.

September 2010

Well, been writting the 9H3MK cards... Plenty to do.

Got some nice cards with the last buro package... C98BWW, P40A, LA/PA5DD, VY2TT, R1ANB.... and many more...

My friend Markus OH1FKR called me and informed me that he was leaving in a few days to Tunisia 3V-land. He needed my help to get in contact with local hamoperators, this lead me to contact Wael who operates many scout stations in 3V, like 3V8SA, 3V8CB and 3V8ST... Markus got the chance to go and meet with Wael in Tunis and the conteststation 3V8SA... Great job Wael and hope you enjoy your trip Markus!

10th Sept. was time for our club OH1AAs annual summer/autum camp in Taivassalo, Tippsund. We were on the air as OH1T. The camp was great and as usual we had a tasty dinner on Friday and lunch on Saturday. BBQ and Sauna was up and running the whole weekend.

Today home sick and just checking the bands... Well seems 15m is nice open to JA direction... Been working some JA and HL.... Made a few qsos and videos of them...

Well seems that the new QTH is not so bad.... Called CQ DX for a few times and got a W and JA pileup on 20, with just a simple G5RV EAST/WEST dir...It was nice to work those guys.

October 2010

Sent an SMS to Janne OH1SDR, if he would have interests on coming to work VHF 144MHz Northern Activity Contest from my new QTH with me.. Installed the 9 element yagi on the roof, beside the chimney. Janne said, he would be glad to join me for the NAC test.

We setup the station on the top floor of the house, where the shack is going to be, Jannes SDR radio and my FT897 with a small BNOS linear that gives 160W MAX output. We worked mostly with Jannes SDR radio and it was plenty of fun!

Here you can see a part of the log book...longest qso was to LY2R, 543km away in locator KO15VS.
Final scores will be up in 2m NAC results.

2m worked nice, haven´t had time to do much radio due all painting and fixing of the house, but will try to participate in CQ WW 2010 SSB part at the end of the month. Mostly just for fun and to catch some DX :).

CQ WW knocking on the door... decided to make a 20m deltaloop and test it during the CQ WW... Worked a few JAs and W qsos... heard plenty of nice DX like, Guam, Northern Mariana, Madagascar and many more... Plenty of new prefixes on the air from the Caribian, old Netherland colonial countries...

November 2010

CQ WW SSB-part is in the past... Looking forward to 2m Northern Activity Contest, first Tuesday of the month.... Will work from home QTH with own rig and setup.

2m NAC was on 2nd Nov. conditions were not good and a rainfront was arriving from SM-land direction making it hard to make contacts to that direction. Worked 65qsos and 24 different squares making a total of 26k points.
Longest QRB was 465km to YL3AG in KO06WK square. More qsos to YL, ES, SM and plenty to OH...
Conditions were bad. Maybe next month they are better. Lets see.

While at home, took some antennas down from old QTH and installed a few new antennas at the new QTH... A longwire (~42m long/short) that goes full HF and a vertical for 20m, as the one I had with me in Malta. Superb antenna. Made a few quick test qsos to North America (US and Canada), Japan and Europe... Both antennas seem to be working good. Longwire is from the house towards west, so some gain that way.
Tomorrow if time allows will check a place for a vertical to 40m band. Got some radial material today from Jussi OH1LEG.

Haven´t had the time to put up anymore antennas for testing. Hoping this coming weekend will give me some more time, need to put up my 3el 6m beam and the cabel for it. With that time hoping to manage a test for the 40m vertical and some longwires in the garden.

Decided to take part in the Latvian VHF contest the 13th November. Made 7 qsos of wich 4 to YL, 2 to ES and one to LY2R making it my longest qrb that contest. 543km to locator KO15VS... YL2GD Gunars asked if I was going to send my log, for sure I send my log. Was also my honor to be his longest qso, 435km away.

Damn... Winter came and haven´t had time to put the 6m beam up on the roof... Will have to wait if the snow melts away for a few days but no such luck soon, wx reports are showing that temperatures will stay around -5 to -10°C.
I decided to take the 20m deltaloop down and store it for some other use, possibly for a pedition. Been working with the 20m vertical that my friend Janne OH1SDR made for me. It works great!
The other night was just scrolling around the bands and found Craig, D2SG calling on 20m, called out to him and had a chat about conditions and WX. Was my first D2 qso. QSL has been sent out to his Manager GM4FDM.

Bought two pieces of 6m tower parts from our club OH1AA and took them back to my home QTH this weekend. Stored them for the winter and hoping to get the tower up in the spring.

HV5PUL was on the air during the weekend by DXCOFFEE team , worked them on the 20th... Well hope the next time I visit Rome I will have a chance to go and work from HV myself.

We did a big job at the club last Thursday, took down one tower and put up another. All this took around 3hours and 30mins. The old tower that we took down got some damage but it doesn´t matter, the point was that it needed to come down before they start building houses around it.

The new tower will get some antennas when WX gets little better, at the moment -20°C and around 10cm snow. Plans are that there will first be a vertical for 2m and 70cm at the top, then a 9element yagi for 2m, a 8element beam for 4m and 6m (4elements each band) and finally the 20m monoband yagi.
Hope to get some stuff up at my QTH also :)

Checked propagation on 20m on the 29th and found Stuart PJ2/GM4AFF calling CQ on the band from Curacao, called out to him and after he swithed the antenna my way worked with 57 both ways.

December 2010

Christmas is coming... All is white. We have around 30cm of snow on the ground. Temperatures are around -5°C during the day and drops down to -15 to -20°C at night time.

Finally got all stuff moved from city QTH to the new house! Radioshack got a table now, not just chairs and some boxes... Computer is up and running antennas are getting erected but now the cold WX and snow is making things little harder.
House is getting readier each day more but antennaworks are slow, temperatures are too low for outdoor working

Will try to update gallery in the near future with some more realtime pics of the house and shack etc... Tnx for checking in!

Geminids meteorshower on the door...
Started working MS with WSJT just before the shower peak wich was on the 14th. Nice qsos made on the 11th, DR5O, loc: JO31NF 1407km, ON4PS loc: JO20kq 1535km, PA0BWL loc: JO21SS 1430km, RA3EL loc: KO82AX, DK5SO loc: JN58AV 1524km and LX/PA2CHR in JN29XV 1578km.

Had to continue on the 12th and worked HA4XG loc: JN86GS 1586km, G4ZFJ loc: JO01HO 1675km, DJ9YE loc: JO43HV 1116km. F4EGA loc: JO10QK 1641km, IW4ARD loc: JN64FO 1948km, DG7OV loc: JO42VX 1145km and PA3BIY loc: JO22EB 1459km. Many contacts where made with only a few periods each way, so very fast qsos with nice bursts.

14th was the day of the peak but only got to work some qsos during the morning (remotly from QRL office...) and late evening due the shower was below horisont during the day. Stations that ended up in the log were, 9A1CMS loc: JN86EL 1620km, RRR from them, DF5DE loc: JO40CX 1388km, PE1NFE loc: JO32KR 1290km, DL4KUG loc: JO64PB 912km, DL5YAS loc: JO31WS 1330km, DL8AKR loc: JO51AI 1284km, HB9CAT/P loc: JN47BM 1723km, DF8IF loc: JO30JT 1461km, PA3EXV loc: JO32KQ and as last qso during the shower was PA5MS loc: JO21RQ 1441km.

Temperatures at -29°C feels pretty cold.... U can imagine!

More snow each day... We are somewhere around 70cm snow in south Finland... Enough is enough... Well it keeps on coming. Better just stay inside and work some DX :)

Temperatures have gotten a little better, closer to only -10C° and around. Had a sked the other day with my friend Craig M1ELB / OH1UK who was visiting his parents in UK. Nice signals from Huddersfield on 20m.

Scrolling around 20m band and stumbled on some guys having qso in Swedish, waited around and the guy I heard was down in Egypt, Hans, SU9HP. Swedish guy who lives there during the winter time, 59 both ways and a nice long chat.

Been waiting for few friends to get on air from Fiji, 3D2... Juha OH1LEG, Kari OH3RB and Tuomo OH8KXK took some holiday and flew to Fiji via Hong Kong. Now getting their antennas and equipment in order and on the air! QRZ from 3D2RB
Been monitoring them a few days but not much heard. Some OH guys managed even work them on 20m, but nothing heard here. Also the time is not the best, been working and so no time to look for then all day. Finally heard them on 40m cw just before the qsyed to 80m, but still no qso yet.
Decided it was time to put a killer antenna for 40m, so I could work them.
Took some time off work as I have some holidays left and started installing the new antenna, 40m quarter wave vertical ... Got it up, swr is good and antenna seems to be working, tested with a JA on 15m 59/59 tnx... The antenna is 3/4 wave on 15m, so works there also.
Made a sked with 3D2RB, op Juha on 40m, first we tried on SSB but couldn´t make out words from the audio, tried on CW and we made it, the antenna works!
